laptop/mic problem

I am new to computer karaoke... almost have it for now except...I have never had a mixer.. do I need one? I have 3 mic jacks in the old player that I would run my cordless and wired mics from... now I dont understand how to run my mics...I have s video...4 usb...and expansion port 2...1headphone jack and 1 speaker jack and a 15 pin ....can anyone help me on these issues?

Can I run my mics from my ampliier? Is it better to have a mixer?

Yes. The mike jacks in a mixer would sound better than the ones in the player. My suggestion on soundcards is to get an outside USB Soundcard. I use a u-contol 202 that I got from musician's freind for $29. Best investment I ever did. The jacks out of that card is RCA so it should make hooking up to a mixer easy enough.
